Due to COVID-19, we are offering ONLINE Rhythm Kids classes this Spring via Zoom beginning Tuesday, April 7th! Try a class with us!
Rhythm Kids follows through on the Music Together® vision to help children complete the pathway of early childhood music development from birth through age 8. As part of the Rhythm Kids experience, children and their grownups can enjoy drumming play and practice sessions at home with the help of online play-along videos featuring Rhythm Kids creator Tom Foote.
Classes are for children K–2 (ages 5 through 8) and include:
Weekly, 45-minute classes
Animal Collection Songbook and CD each semester
Access to online video tutorials and play-alongs
A child–sized djembe drum (for the purchase or rental of $30.)
This Spring is our Sea Turtle Song Colletion! In addition to your weekly classes, tuition includes a new songbook, along with online access to the music and bonus activities, as well as Rhythm Kids videos to watch at home.
Introducing Sea Turtle, a New Rhythm Kids Collection!
The Rhythm Kids collection for Spring is Sea Turtle, with three new songs and all-new patterns. Sea Turtle draws inspiration from Malaysia, Lebanon, and other regions of the world. The drumming patterns are adapted from Turkish rhythms used for dancing.
Turtle Back Home (composed by Tom Foote)
Wau Bulan, a Malaysian folk song. "Wau Bulan" describes the beauty of the Malaysian traditional kite (wau), with a rounded bottom shaped like a half moon (bulan), as it flies up high in the sky.
Ala Dal'Ona is a well-known traditional Lebanese dabke, a style of dance typical in Levant countries such as Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon.
In Rhythm Kids, children play dynamic musical games, work in ensembles, explore solo singing and drumming, and experiment with conducting and improvisation using a repertoire of well-loved Music Together songs, plus new material adapted from or inspired by drumming traditions from around the world, including Ghana, Ireland, and Bali.
